I designed tool this as part of my work with the UNDP Accelerator Lab, Jordan, as part of my role as Head of Solutions Mapping. Part of the lab’s methodology includes searching for existing solutions to local problems. The next step is to decide what to test in relation to locally found solutions or related challenges. This raises the question: how do you assess whether a “solution” is worth testing and potentially scaling?

This nifty little card is meant to be used in the context of a team discussion to:

  • Assess and compare identified solutions, especially (but not exclusively) those found at a grassroots level during exploratory field visits, using eight criteria.

  • Facilitate the process of making a decision on which solution to test, while aware of its opportunities and limitations.
